1. Agreement
By using TypeNets at typenets.pages.dev (the “Service”) you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use TypeNets with a parent, guardian or teacher’s awareness.
2. What TypeNets is
TypeNets is a free typing tutor with lessons, practice, a timed typing test, statistics, an all-time leaderboard and online multiplayer races. It is provided for learning and entertainment.
3. Your data and progress
Practice progress and settings are stored in your browser. If you clear your browser data or switch device, you can lose that progress, so we are not responsible for lost progress. If you sign in with Google, your profile is tied to that Google account and stays signed in on the browser you used until you sign out. You are responsible for your Google account and for what you do while signed in. See the Privacy Policy for full details of what is stored and where.
4. Accounts, names and pictures
- Signing in is optional and uses your Google account. On first sign-in we create a profile from it: your Google name and photo, and a username generated from your email name. You can change all of these.
- Usernames are 3–20 characters (letters, numbers and underscores) and must be unique. You can change your username up to two times per calendar month; changing your name or picture is always free.
- Your name, username, picture and best score are public on the leaderboard, and your username appears in multiplayer races.
- Do not choose a name or username that is offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening, misleading, impersonates someone else, or contains personal information.
- You may upload your own profile picture (or use your Google photo or a provided avatar). Only upload pictures you have the right to use; they must not be unlawful, sexual, hateful, violent, or show other people without permission. You give TypeNets permission to store and display the picture on the Service while your account exists.
- We may change or remove any name, username, picture, profile or score at our discretion and without notice. You can delete your account at any time from your profile.
5. Fair play
You agree not to:
- cheat, automate or script typing, use macros, bots or modified clients, or submit scores that were not genuinely typed by you;
- tamper with, overload, scrape, probe or attempt to break the Service, its database or other users’ accounts;
- harass or abuse other players, or use race names or usernames to do so;
- use the Service for anything unlawful.
Scores are reported by your browser, so we may remove scores, reset leaderboard entries, restrict profiles or block access when we believe the rules were broken or a result is not genuine.
6. Multiplayer
Races match you with other online visitors. We do not control other players and cannot guarantee a race will start, that a minimum number of players will join, or that a race will be free of interruptions. Race results are for fun and have no prize or monetary value.
7. Intellectual property
The TypeNets name, logo and design belong to their owners. The profile illustrations and any third-party libraries, fonts and services remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their own terms. Typing passages are used for practice only.
8. Availability and changes
TypeNets is provided free of charge and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time, including its features, the leaderboard, or multiplayer. We may update these Terms; continued use after an update means you accept the new Terms. The “last updated” date above shows the latest version.
9. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of speed or accuracy measurements, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Typing statistics are estimates for self-improvement and are not certified results.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TypeNets and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, progress, scores or usernames, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Termination
You can stop using TypeNets at any time and clear your browser data. We may suspend or remove access, profiles or scores, with or without notice, if these Terms are broken or to protect the Service and its users.
12. Third-party services and links
TypeNets uses third-party services (including Supabase, Google Firebase and Google Fonts). We are not responsible for those services or their content, and their own terms and privacy policies apply to them.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws that apply where the Service’s operator is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless your local consumer-protection law says otherwise. If a provision cannot be enforced, the rest of the Terms still apply.
